Entertaiment | Merriam-Webster
A form of recreation that provides enjoyment or diversion. It may include any of a variety of activities such as watching movies, attending concerts or playing games. It can also be a form of escapism that allows people to temporarily remove themselves from the mundane realities of daily life and experience an enjoyable experience in a different way. In an objective sense, entertainment involves communication between text and audience, requires an external stimulus to occur, offers pleasure, and requires that the audience be a passive participant. It can be seen as a type of art and can take any number of forms from a single person selecting an amusing activity, to a banquet adapted for two, to a performance intended for thousands.
