Entertaiment is the act of entertaining, or the experience of being entertained. Entertainment may have an aesthetic effect, but it also has a serious purpose: as part of ceremony, celebration or religious festival; as a way to achieve insight and intellectual growth (such as in satire); or as a form of recreation or sport. It can range from activities adapted for an individual, to dinner parties or banquets; from competitions between individuals, or between groups; and up to performances designed for thousands, or even for global audiences.

Entertaiment hits on the points that our brains were evolved to react deeply to. This is why so much of it involves backstabbing, murders and other social themes.
