The word comes from the Latin intertenere, which translates to “hold inside.” The prefix inter means “inside” and the suffix -ten, derived from the Indo-European root ten, means “stretch.”
Many forms of entertainment hit on themes that the human mind was evolved to react deeply to. Whether it’s murder, backstabbing or social hierarchy it stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and other chemicals.
