Entertaiment
The ubiquity of certain familiar forms of entertainment has demonstrated that many themes, images and structures are timeless. Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as an objective activity that encompasses communication between text and audience, originates from external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience and occurs in a passive form.

Entertaiment can take the form of a small and private act (such as selecting a word in a crossword) to an entire event involving music, dance or drama adapted for a large audience. It can also involve a more serious purpose as in ceremony, celebration, satire and religion.
