Entertaiment is a wide-ranging term that can be applied to any activity, event, or experience designed for pleasure, diversion, amusement, recreation, or distraction. It can involve entertainment of the mind, such as puzzles or other games; it can also be entertainment of the body, including physical sports and activities. It is often associated with the idea of fun, humour, and play; but it may have serious or even political or philosophical underpinnings, as in ceremonial events, religious festivals, and satire for example. It can be adapted to any scale, from an individual choosing their own private entertainments through the immense range of pre-recorded media available, to banquets and parties for hundreds or thousands.
