Entertaiment is the activities, sports, games, hobbies, and interests that people engage in for enjoyment and recreation. It can include watching movies and television, playing video games, sports, attending live music concerts or theater performances, reading books or poetry for pleasure and enrichment, and enjoying visual art.

The word entertainment comes from the Medieval Latin inter tenere, which means “to hold inside.” Its Indo-European root is ten, meaning to stretch or expand.

Dan had a lot of stereo entertainment equipment in his room. The book entertained the children as well as educated them. The backstabbing and murder in the movie entertains us and hits on the points our brains were evolved to deeply react to in order to function socially. The experience gives us a good feeling.
